Jet 9
It's a long way from the Tuesday night crit to the Ironman Championships at Kona, but riders on Jets keep racking up wins at both. Hybrid alloy/carbon construction offers the braking performance and durability of an alloy rim and the speed that comes from our exceptional aero designs. For 2011 Jets are tuned with HED's proprietary SCT (Stability Control Technology) - adding improved crosswind handling to their stellar ride and cornering characteristics.

The wheel with the deepest rim in the HED Jet series, which are the fastest spoked clincher wheels available. So what you're looking at is the fastest of the fastest. A 90mm carbon deep section built around the state-of-the-art HED C2 rim makes the HED Jet 9 a perfect choice for the fast rider who averages over 25mph.
The HED Jet 9 is a wheel with previous. The original Jet was groundbreaking when we launched it 13 years ago, and thanks to constant retesting, redesigning and remodelling, the 2010 HED Jet 9 is just as revolutionary as the first version.
How do we make sure the HED Jet 9 stays ahead of the competition? The new generation of HED Jet wheels are built on HED's 23mm-wide C2 rim. Whereas the original Jets, designed in 1995 in the days when it was believed narrower was better, ran on a 19mm rim, we have since found a wider rim to be more efficient. But not any old 23mm rim. Using detailed CAD design we can machine a 23mm rim that weighs the same as a 19mm rim. And the extra width makes the rim laterally stiffer.
HED Jets are made for 23mm tyres. Their rolling resistance is lower, they corner better and a higher-volume tyre needs less pressure for the same load, giving better vibration absorption and ultimately more speed. With the C2 rim, the tyre width matches rim width. The tyre sidewalls are an integral part of the aerodynamic shape of the wheel, making for a much smoother leading edge. The tyre sidewalls don't bulge over the braking surface, and they support the tyre more predictably during cornering.
The HED C2 rim combined with a specifically designed 90mm carbon deep section creates an aerodynamic shape that puts the HED Jet 9 right at the top of its game.
